How this ranking is calculated
Each of the cards in our database is run through our reward calculator on one spend pattern: ₹15,000 a month of online shopping and nothing else, which is ₹1,80,000 a year. Cards are ordered by the value that spending returns, with the card name breaking ties.
What the figure counts:
- Cashback, statement credit and vouchers that online shopping spending earns.
- Reward points that spending earns, valued at the issuer's own stated redemption rate rather than at a rate of our choosing.
- Any bonus-period uplift on that spending.
- Surcharge waivers, net of the surcharge charged. A card that charges a surcharge and waives it in full has given you nothing; one that charges without waiving has cost you something.
- A milestone benefit only when ₹1,80,000 of online shopping spending on its own reaches the milestone.
What the figure deliberately excludes:
- Annual, joining and renewal fees, and any waiver of them.
- Welcome and joining benefits.
- Everything the card pays on spending outside online shopping.
This answers "what does this card pay on online shopping", not "is this card worth holding". The annual fee is shown in the table as context only and has no effect on the order. To weigh a card's fees and your whole spending pattern together, use the ranking against your own spends.
Reward caps bind against the spend assumed here, so a different monthly amount can reorder the table. No eligibility filter is applied, so a card listed here may not be one you would qualify for. Enter your own numbers in the reward calculator to see what any of these cards would return for you.
Every figure is our own calculation from each issuer's published terms, and each card's page names the documents and the date each was retrieved. This is information, not advice about which card to apply for.
Common questions
- How is this online shopping ranking calculated?
- Each card is run through our reward calculator on ₹15,000 a month of online shopping spending and nothing else, which is ₹1,80,000 a year. We count the cashback, vouchers and reward points that spend earns, value points at the issuer's own stated redemption rate, and net surcharge waivers against any surcharge charged. We exclude annual, joining and renewal fees, fee waivers, and welcome and joining benefits, because those are not what the card pays you for this spending. A milestone counts only when ₹1,80,000 of online shopping spending alone reaches it.
